(BOSTON- May 12, 2010)—In a major step forward toward the November election, Democratic Candidate for State Auditor Mike Lake took over 5,800 certified signatures to the Secretary of State’s office well before the June 1st deadline. The campaign was able to secure signatures from over 180 cities and towns in the Commonwealth.

“I appreciate the support of the voters; our submission of signatures shows the momentum of our campaign,” announced Mike Lake. “I appreciate the support of working families from across the state who understand that our next Auditor must work independently and proactively to protect your hard earned tax dollars.”

Mike is a Melrose native, and was appointed Special Assistant for White House Operations by President Bill Clinton and served as Director of Development for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay & Merrimack Valley. He currently works as the Executive Director of the World Class Cities Partnership at Northeastern University, where he brings together business, civic and academic leaders from around the world to identify and exchange evidence-based solutions to the challenges facing government.

As Massachusetts’ State Auditor, Mike will draw on the principles, experiences and skills he has gained over his career. He will lead the office into the 21st century utilizing technology to improve transparency and give Massachusetts citizens a voice in the audit process.
Mike plans to maintain an independent perspective unclouded by coercive influence from state agencies, lobbyists or Beacon Hill.
