(Boston, MA- April 30, 2014): Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor Mike Lake is the first candidate in the race to have more than 10,000 signatures certified by town and city clerks to appear on the ballot in September. The Lake Campaign demonstrated its strength in grassroots organizing by collecting over 15,000 signatures from 260 cities and towns across the Commonwealth.

“I am proud of my team and our strong grassroots organization for all the work they’ve done in collecting signatures,” said Lake, “Their effort in the field has been exemplary and I can’t thank them enough for their time and energy in ensuring that we get on the September ballot.”

All candidates running for office this fall must submit their signatures to city and town clerk by May 6, and they must submit certified signatures to the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s office by June 3, in order to qualify for the September primary election.

“We want to thank all the volunteers and organizers who made this milestone possible,” said Deputy Field Director, Jane Rudy. “Without their hard work and effort the people of Massachusetts would not have the opportunity to vote for Mike or his progressive vision for our future. Thank you, Team Lake for your tireless work!”

Lake was appointed by President Clinton as Special Assistant for White House Operations and is the President and CEO of Leading Cities, an international organization that focuses on exchanging solutions to municipal challenges and creating jobs through business development. Former Governor and Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis and his wife Kitty have endorsed Lake, as well as other elected officials including Governor’s Councillor, Eileen Duff, Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz, Senator Rodrigues and Katherine Patrick, the daughter of Governor Deval Patrick.
